Examination, diagnostic evaluation and surgical treatment planning are provided for adult patients in the field of general surgery.
In our General Surgery department, conditions requiring surgical evaluation of the abdomen, breast, thyroid and soft tissues are addressed. The department provides information on open and laparoscopic (closed) surgical methods, operation planning and follow-up services. Surgical decisions are made by evaluating the patient's clinical status together with diagnostic results.
The department provides a wide range of surgical services, including hernia surgeries, gallbladder, appendectomy, thyroid and breast surgery. Proctological conditions (hemorrhoids, anal fissure, pilonidal sinus, etc.) and minor surgical procedures are also part of the department's routine scope. Patients receive detailed information prior to each operation, and postoperative follow-up is conducted regularly.
Our department also performs endoscopic procedures for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Endoscopy and colonoscopy are used in the evaluation of digestive system complaints, polyp screening, and treatment when necessary.
Endoscopy (gastroscopy) allows direct visualization of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum using a thin, flexible tube. It is performed in cases of difficulty swallowing, chronic heartburn, reflux, stomach pain, nausea, suspected bleeding and ulcer follow-up. Biopsies can be taken and polyps removed during the procedure when necessary.
Colonoscopy is the examination of the large intestine (colon) and rectum using a flexible camera. It is considered the gold standard method for chronic diarrhea/constipation, rectal bleeding, iron deficiency anemia, unexplained abdominal pain, polyp detection and colorectal cancer screening. Polyps can be removed and tissue samples taken during the procedure; screening is generally recommended for individuals over the age of 45.
